Newfield acquired its flagship asset in 2018 from Stellar Diamonds plc and has since invested over US$80m, developing it to the production stage it is at today.
Located in eastern Sierra Leone which is renowned for its high quality diamonds, the development covers two adjacent mining licenses spanning over 134km2 and hosts 11 known kimberlites.

The Tongo Mine has one of the highest grade Resources in the world though exploration has been minimal. Actual mining grades are exceeding forecasts by an average of 38%.

In addition to the extra kimberlites, deeper drilling on the first five is also planned to further develop the Resource.
The Reserve is only declared on the top 120m levels of Kundu and Lando thus far, and drilling has intersected these kimberlites to depths below 400m.
Similar mines have been observed to achieve depths of mining in excess of 600m.
