Mr Karl Smithson
With over 30 years’ experience in the resources sector in Africa, Karl has held senior management positions at De Beers, SouthernEra Resources, Mano River Resources and Stellar Diamonds. Karl possesses an in-depth knowledge of exploration, evaluation and production of diamond and other mineral resources, and has the capability to undertake detailed financial modelling of projects. Throughout Karl’s career, he has established strong government and local stakeholder relationships in numerous African countries and has successfully secured a number of joint venture agreements with both major and junior resource companies.
Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology (Honours) from Kingston University, London, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Cape Town.
Mr Michael Lynn
Michael is a diamond geologist with over 30 years’ experience in the African Continent (including DRC, Tanzania, Guinea, and South Africa) as well as India, Canada and Brazil. His career included senior exploration and management roles with the De Beers Group and the Anglo American Corporation. He is the CEO of Allotropes Diamond Co Ltd (“Allotropes”) and its related entities in Sierra Leone.
Mr Chris Burton
Chris is a chartered accountant and registered company auditor with over 22 years of finance sector experience from roles in both public practice and the private sector. He is a former partner of accounting firm BDO where he spent eight years in audit and assurance services focusing on ASX-listed companies in a wide range of industries including exploration and mining companies.
Chris currently provides corporate, financial and compliance services to ASX listed and private clients to strengthen their reporting, risk and governance practices. He is a facilitator with the Institute of Company Directors in Australia (AICD) where he delivers the finance modules for the company directors course.
Mr Peter Evans
Peter is a Senior Executive and Company Director with over 40 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Secretary, Corporate Adviser and former Investment Banker specialising in the Australian equity capital markets. Peter has wide ranging financial and commercial background gained across many industry sectors, with a deep understanding and knowledge of global equity capital markets including listing and raising capital on the ASX. He has expertise across the corporate finance, equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, new equity, debt and hybrid issues, listing on the ASX and secondary issuances, strategy and business planning, corporate governance and compliance, business and commercial law. financial management oversight, marketing and stakeholder engagement
Peter has facilitated many IPOs and secondary equity issues for both industrial and resources companies over the past 26 years as a former Director of Corporate Finance at one of Australia’s largest full service domestic brokers, that specialised in the mid cap markets.
Mr Jack Spencer-Cotton
Jack has over 27 years’ experience in the field of engineering. He has held a range of senior engineering roles in international manufacturing companies, as well as established his own business in engineering and consulting. He has previously held senior engineering roles at ERG Group Ltd, Sanmina-SCI Corporations and SRX Global. He is presently a capital projects engineer at Pfizer Perth and a non-executive director of an ASX-listed company.
Mr Rowan Carr
FEED and Mineral Resource Manager
A highly experienced diamond exploration and mining operations specialist, Rowan has a proven track record in successfully and safely operating across eight African countries, many regions of which are considered high risk zones. Rowan has over 30 years of experience in diamond operations from grass roots exploration to mining operations.
Rowan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Masters of Mineral Exploration and is a Chartered Geologist. He has a wide network throughout the global diamond industry and is a Fellow of the Geological Society, London.
Mr Koos Visser
Contract Mining Manager
Koos is an electrical engineer specialising in project developments, process improvements and mining cost optimisation assessments. Koos has previously held position at Petra Diamonds as the Group’s Operational Manager where he was responsible for over 12,800 mining staff with an annual budget of US$450 million.
Koos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Potchefstroom University and a South African Government Certificate of Competency.
